As the industrial structure adjustment of China's plastic products industry continues to accelerate, as one of the direction of structural adjustment, the recycling and recycling of waste plastics has become the key to the entire recycling industry chain, and it is also the current high-tech and high-profit industry. The WRAP organization calculated that the UK's waste recycling efforts reduced annual carbon dioxide emissions by 10 to 15 million tons. In 2005, recycling efforts reduced US carbon dioxide emissions by 49 million tons. In some developed countries, the development and research work on the recycling of waste plastics started early, and many technologies have matured and produced good benefits. In China, the waste plastic recycling industry is a sunrise environmental protection industry with great development potential.

From the current recycling technology of waste plastics, there are several ways to improve the value of waste plastic products, including plastic-wood composite construction materials, daily necessities, chemical products, geotechnical materials. In the above-mentioned fields, the plastics are alloyed, and the building materials made of waste polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene have the advantages of moisture proof, anti-corrosion, sound insulation, and non-deterioration, etc., and the river bank and the lakeside revetment, doors and windows, and walls (core) are made. Separators, etc., can replace wood and cement, and are an important direction for the future development of the entire industry.

Low-carbon environmentally friendly plastic wood (WPC) is a new environmentally friendly material that has been promoted and developed rapidly since the 21st century. It is made of polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and other waste plastics and sawn timber, straw, rice husk, corn stalks and other agricultural and forestry waste, waste in raw materials. The utilization ratio can be as high as 90%, which is in line with the national energy conservation and environmental protection policy orientation. Due to the dual characteristics of wood and plastic, wood-plastic materials overcome the shortcomings of high water absorption, easy deformation and cracking, and easy to be mildewed by woody materials. They have high mechanical properties, light weight, moisture resistance, acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance. It is easy to clean and can replace the use of logs, plastics and aluminum alloys in many fields. It is a new generation of energy-saving and environmentally friendly new products that will replace traditional wood in the future. The market has broad application prospects.

In 2009, the global market for low-carbon environmentally-friendly plastic-wood composite materials reached 1.2 million tons, accounting for about 57% of the global market. North America is the world's largest producer and seller of low-carbon and environmentally-friendly plastic-wood composite materials. Its production and development and application technologies are among the world's leading. Currently, there are more than 100 low-carbon environmentally-friendly plastic-wood composite materials manufacturers in North America. The higher-ranking companies are listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The largest producer, TREX, has an annual production of more than 500,000 tons and a global market share of 46.7%.

The development of low-carbon and environmentally-friendly wood-plastic composites in Europe is far behind North America and started relatively late, but the development speed is very fast. There are more than 60 manufacturers, including 19 in Germany, 7 in the UK, 6 in Sweden, Finland and Austria. 5 households, but the scale of each manufacturer is small, and the market concentration is low. In 2009, the European environmental protection plastic wood market capacity reached 160,000 tons, becoming the world's second largest low-carbon environmentally friendly plastic wood composites consumer market after North America, accounting for about 16% of the global total. The gap between the Asia-Pacific region and the European region is not large, accounting for about 15% of the global consumer market.

Unlike the global market, most of China's environmentally friendly plastic wood products are used for export, and the domestic market is still in the cultivation stage. However, China is one of the countries with relatively shortage of forest resources in the world. With the continuous increase of wood consumption, the contradiction between supply and demand has become increasingly prominent. In the long run, wood conservation and substitution are important ways to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand of wood and realize the sustainable use of timber resources. Low-carbon and environmentally-friendly plastic-wood composite materials are one of the ideal substitutes for wood. If domestic timber supply and demand gap is 1% Replaced by environmentally friendly plastic wood, which will generate 140-1.5 million tons of demand, the future market demand for low-carbon environmentally friendly plastic-wood composite materials will be considerable.

At present, in 2009, China's low-carbon and environmentally-friendly plastic-wood composite materials production and sales reached 150,000 tons, 70% of which are exported to Europe, America and Asia-Pacific. With the implementation of the government's energy conservation and emission reduction policies and the people's awareness of environmental protection, the domestic demand for environmentally friendly plastic wood is increasing year by year, from 15,000 tons in 2007 to 45,000 tons in 2009. According to the China Plastics Processing Industry Association Plastic Wood Products Committee, in the next few years, China's low-carbon and environmentally-friendly plastic-wood composite materials market will maintain an annual growth rate of 15-20%, and will reach nearly 320,000 tons by 2013.

With the rise of low-carbon and environmentally-friendly production and lifestyles on a global scale, and the governments of all countries to vigorously support and promote the application and development of various energy-saving and environmentally-friendly new materials, the plastic-wood composite materials industry will face rapid growth in the next few years. The scale of demand is increasing, which brings huge market space.
